Welcome Back! I have taken some time to research other aspects of pandemdating!
Our happy couple have finally met face to face and was able to safely “hang out”.
The meet and greet was full of chivalry and fun. Okay, probably not their words, but that is how I summarize it. He arrived with flowers and a negative Covid test in hand and she was unexpectedly surprised. (by the flowers) They seem to hit it off quite well. Time was spent exploring different parts of Boston. Safely of course!
No indoor dining, movie theater or bowling. None of the usual kinds of venues that you may go to on a date. Most of these are still closed. There were walks along the beach, Netflix marathons and a trip to Whole Foods for snacks. The physical presence was better than the virtual. Its always better to be able to physically touch someone than imagine what a hug will feel like. It wasn’t really a blind date, but it was a first to see someone that you have connected with for three months by broadband. The connection was made without a log in or screen or internet. Yes, it is safe to say, reality is still much better than virtuality. It reminds us that the personal, physical and “real” connections that humans need to satisfy their fundamental needs are still present. Maslow’s hierarchy still rings true. Humans require a real connection, not something that is experienced on the web. They need to be able to touch, smell and embrace not just for physical reasons but psychological one as well! In the end, most of us choose Humanity over Artificial Intelligence❤
